I come to Pathwise after twelve years of building relationships with students and families as a public school counselor. I have supported students navigating the transition to four-year public and private colleges and universities, trade schools, the workforce, gap years, community college, and more. Alongside post-secondary planning, I have experience with academic planning, social and emotional wellness, goal-focused counseling, and crisis intervention and management–it all overlaps and no processes, path, or destination have been the same!
An empowerment model of counseling and support is at the center of my professional practice, which I learned and applied as a crisis counselor at the Center for Women and Community at UMass Amherst. In an empowerment model, support believes every person knows themselves best and is capable of making decisions that fit their hopes, wants, and circumstance. I provide resources, guidance, planning, and options while honoring the unique experiences and background of the students and families I am working with.
Before school counseling for Portland Public Schools I worked for seven years in a small rural district in Western Massachusetts. I have intimate knowledge of college and universities in New England and on the east coast. I also have personal experience with colleges and universities in Montana and the Pacific Northwest. Through years of experience supporting students building plans that best fit them, I’ve learned that there are so many different paths one can take!
I am just beginning the school process as a mom. I have a 5 year old beginning their second year of school and 3 year old twins starting pre-school this year. I have admiration and respect for caregivers of middle and high school students, who are the first point of contact for their children when planning their futures.
Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly stood out. We’ve already recommended them to others.
